An Amateur Choir Music Composer

I was born & raised in a modest church going family. My mom, and many of my brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins on both my maternal & paternal sides were avid church goers & choir members, so some will say it’s really not a surprise I follow the same path.

I joined a church choir when I was still a teen. I was not the best singer in the team but early on, choir practices, concerts & other activities became entirely part of my life.

Music composition & choir direction were not paths that I initially envisioned. I could not recall how exactly it all started; maybe they came to me naturally? I don’t know… but I do know that before I even hit my 18th birthday, I was writing small choir songs & directing choirs at church, school, etc…

I remember very well the thrill I felt when for the first time, one of my songs were sung by a church choir: it felt I had accomplished something huge: I know it may sound ridiculous nowadays but hey, it was the greatest motivation I needed I that time.

 

 

Alas, life goes on: my teenage dream of becoming the new Mozart or Beethoven was abandoned & I chose a career path which has nothing to do with music. I do not necessarily have regret: I figured I still can compose, give glory to the lord without being a career musician.

I realized that I still have the blessing in my soul even if I’m now far away from my early friends & choirs. That’s what this website is about: I want to give back, stay connected to my old choir director friends, make new music friends & continue to learn.

Above all, I wish to continue to glorify the lord ’til the end!
